   The only BMW models to require a security code for the factory radio are the E36 models and Z3 Roadster and Coupes. This includes M cars of both varieties. All other BMW models related to BSW equipment do not require a security code.

4. I've installed a new aftermarket head unit, but there is no sound when I play CD's.
   This is a very common occurrence, and is quite simple to remedy. On the back of your new head unit you will most likely have a blue wire and a blue/white stripe wire in the radio harness.
