What you're most likely hearing is one of two things:
1. An air leak, or
2. The bottom portion of the enclosure resonating against the i-beam that
it rests against.
The most common issue is
in fact a small air leak, usually in one of three places:
1. The junction of the top piece and plastic tub, usually up around the
front or rear edges in the middle, where the contact points are at their
smallest.
2. The holes in the bottom of the enclosure where you secured it to the
i-beam. You will want to make sure that you've applied a small dab of silicone
to cover each of the bolts used in securing the bottom
piece.
3. Or, the most common place for an air leak, the woofer mounting
surface. Double and triple check this point, as this is where 90% of air leaks
are found. If need be, swing by a hardware store and pick up some 1/4"
weather-stripping for additional sealing. Apply the weather-stripping to the
backside of the rubber gasket on the subwoofer where it rests atop the enclosure
opening. At this point, HAND tighten the screws.
If the rattle isn't an air leak, you will want to better isolate the plastic tub from the i-beam, using either sound deadening material or, as we've done many times, any type of material you happen to have lying around the garage (rag, old t-shirt, etc)
