I installed my new subwoofer amplifier, but now my interior speakers don't have any sound. What gives?

The likely cause of your factory amplifier not working after you've installed your new subwoofer amplifier is usually one of two things:

  1. The remote turn on wire has been interrupted. When adding your new subwoofer amplifier, recall we had to tap into the white wire going to your factory amplifier in order to generate a turn on signal for the new amplifier. We've seen countless times where the butt connector was improperly installed, so that the signal no longer flows through to the factory amplifier to allow it to turn on. Double check this connection.

  2. If you also installed rear speakers, especially in E36 and E46 convertibles, it's possible that the rear speaker terminals are touching metal, thus putting the factory amplifier into protection mode. Remove the rear midrange drivers, and then check to see if the factory amplifier comes back on and plays as per normal.
Beyond the above, use your best judgment and assess the installation leading up to this point. Did you unplug the factory amplifier and forget to plug it back in? Believe us, it's always something simple.
