If you have a model year 1996-2002 BMW, your car was not equipped from the factory to allow for optional Satellite Radio. • True Factory Integration: The BSW Sirius Connect satellite radio kit works like a factory CD changer. You'll see the channel number on your display, but cannot see text information such as channel or song titles.
  
  
• Plug and Play Installation: Your factory BMW CD changer connections are used, so there's no cutting or splicing - just plug in the connections, mount your antenna, and go. Installation takes around 45 minutes, includes detailed instructions with photos, and requires no previous experience. Author: Robert V The BSW Sirius receiver kit for the BMW X5 is very simple to install, requiring 30 minutes if that. It uses the vehicles pre-wiring for the CD changer. If you already have a CD changer, no problem since the kit includes an extra cable to keep it connected as well. The kits antenna is small but powerful so reception is excellent. It can be mounted inside the X5s spoiler instead of on top of the vehicles roof so its not visible.
Author: Barry Installed the Sirius receiver in my 2001 BMW 330CI. Proved to be a quick clean install. The sound quality is great. Because of my year and model of receiver I don get all of the display data, but it is easy to live without it.
Author: Tim Installed in a 2001 BMW 525i. Easy and clean installation and sound quality is good. Would be nice to have the channel info on the radio screen but not possible on this older model and far prefer this clean installation. Good solution.
