Can I install the DICE BMW iPod Integration Kit myself?

Yes, you can. Installation is extremely simple, requiring only two physical connections to the vehicle's CD changer port in the back (which are plug and play). Since you can control your iPod using the vehicle's steering wheel / head unit controls and information is displayed on your head unit / nav screen (on 2000 or later BMWs), you can leave the iPod in the trunk where it is connected. However, if you prefer to have physical access to the iPod, you will have to run a small cord to the front of the vehicle, adding some time to the installation.

Does the DICE BMW iPod Integration Kit Charge my iPod?

Yes, it does! While your vehicle is on and your iPod is connected to the DICE iPod Integration Kit, it will be charging.

Can I control my iPod using my factory radio and steering wheel controls with the DICE?

Yes, you can. The DICE allows you to not only control the iPod using your factory radio controls, but it also allows you to view track, album, and artist information! Furthermore, you are also able to use the iPod itself if you prefer.

Will I lose my in-dash CD Player? What about my CD Changer?

If your vehicle is equipped with an in-dash CD player, it will not be affected in any way and functions in conjunction with the DICE iPod Integration Kit. If you have a CD changer, it will be replaced by the DICE iPod Integration Kit. However, for most people this isn't a problem since you'll have access to MUCH more music anyway!

Does the DICE iPod Integration Kit come with everything I need?

Yes, it does. However, you may wish to also purchase a mounting bracket and/or video cradle to mount the DICE in the location shown in photos.

Author: Chris Wellington 02 X5 4.4 If you have an iPod, and you have an X5, GET THIS KIT! Its AWESOME!!! Ok, so its not the cure for cancer, but its really sweet, especially with the spec.dock. (I add that later and wish I got it in the first place and saved the 20). The controls and text display are really good. Kinda frustrating that you cant see the playlist or album choice, but once you get used to you can get around pretty fast. (But thats where the dock comes in cause you can just use the iPod and its in the perfect spot). Install took me longer than I thought it would but it wasnt bad for the first thing I ever did on my car. :-P BSW guys were really helpful when I called, too, even tough my questions were pretty dumb.

Fantastic product... so easy to install with the instructions from bavsoundwerks... was a little concerned about cutting into the power which I think is only required if you have DSP, but the detailed photos and instructions made it a snap.The product itself is great. I like the fact that you can use the iPod or the car controls to navigate the ipod. Sound is great and its nice that you can plug another music source into the aux jack if you need to.Took about 5 min to install and test in my 2005 X5 4.4, and prob about an hour to run the cables cleanly under the carpet/panels etc.Much better than what BMW offers!

Author: Brian Reed If you even think of getting iPod integration in your BMW X5, look no further than BSW. These guys are incredible to work with, extremely knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile. I even stopped by their office twice since I am local and they were always there to help.The install was really easy, especially if you have any stereo install experience and a very basic understanding of electronics. The only issue I had is the 2004 X5 is a little tricky to understand whether/when you need the DSP module or not, since there is no separate optical wire. The guys at BSW actually knew more about my particular vehicle than DICE Electronics support. Total install time took about 45 minutes for the DICE unit and running the cable I went very slow and then to add the DSP module took another 5 minutes. Sounds great and the 2point5 spec.dock looks incredible in my front ashtray. All in all, this is more cost effective than the BMW Factory changers that play MP3 CDs.

Author: Alex McGraw Pretty good product.Obviously the install insructions with all the photos make it a low stress install project. However, I still wound up breaking a clip on the pillar between front and back seats. And I wish I had some thin gloves for pulling the wire through the center console by the ebrake. For whatever reason something in mine is sharp!But, easy enough that I will order one for the M5 next. Would be great if it would show album art and playlist etc., but in the end, all I really want is a clean looking install that I can use the stock controls with. It is written everywhere, but seriously you have to make sure your iPod has the latest software. Finally excellent sound quality from my iPod in my car.

Author: Reid Jackson I really like the product. The installation is very clean. We did get the 2point5 spec dock which is a huge plus. It provides power and a secure hold for the ipod. We did have some issues with the ashtray door but that seems to be fixed. It is a nice clean snug fit.The only issue I have is that the steering wheel control is limited to playlists. If you select an artist or album and want to jump between songs the steering will wont let you. It brings you back to the main menu and stops playing music. but if you are in a play list it works fine. Over all I would give the product and 8 out of 10

Author: Reid Jackson I used the 2point5 spec doc and the Dice BMW Ipod Integration Kit on my 2002 X5. The installation was very clean. the online video instructions were a huge help. They made all the difference. Now everyone that gets in my car wants one. They are so impressed with the system and the fact that I was able to install it myself. The only down fall is that the steering wheel controls are not as integrated as I would like. But I love that the doc does charge the ipod. Great Products

Author: Jeff Product is excellent, easy integration with the existing sound system within the X5. I purchased the spec dock along with the integration system and it fits perfectly within the former ashtray unit. Ipod control capabilities work both through the use of the ipod as it is located within the spec dock as well as by using the existing audio controls through the steering wheel interface. You can use the steering wheel interface to move smoothly through the existing audio files located on your ipod.

Author: Brad 05 X5 3.0 I got my wife an 80 GB IPod classic for xmas and her only concern was putting it in her X5 she just bought. I searched and searched online for solutions and then found BSW. I ordered the Dice Silverline. Not only was the install as easy as the video shows but it took me about the same amount of time. Honestly, its not hard. I did have some trouble getting the wire behind the B pillar panel covering the seatbelt which as you can see from the video is the hardest part. Other than that it was as easy as the videos showed. I did go ahead and purchase the 2point5 spec.dock and Im glad I did. When my wife first saw it installed she thought I cheated and went to the BMW dealership to have it done. It looks as if factory installed. It was actually more than I expected. It wasn just a cheap piece of plastic. The 2point 5 spec.dock is the only way to go and I would recommend it along with the Dice to anyone...as long as they go through BSW. I order on Wednesday afternoon and had it Friday morning, great job BSW I did have some trouble with the text display but finally figured it out. I also still have not been able to get it into Simple mode for more IPod control. I would give an overall score of 9.5/10. It would have been a 10/10 if the Dice Silverline worked a little faster.

Author: Antonio De Ita DEVICE: IPHONE Car: BMW X5 2002 Products Bought: - DICE BMW IPOD INTEGRATION KIT FOR X5 00-06 SILVERLINE - BSW PANEL REMOVAL TOOL KIT - 2POINT5 SPECK.DOCK FOR BMW X5 W/DICE CABLE It has been a while scince i was searching for a clean and usefull solution for ipods and bmws, then i bought an iphone and tried different things on the market, like cassette adapters, fm transmitters but nothing worked or sounded like i wanted. then i checked this site and bought the items listed above, they were really easy to install and everything worked like a charm. the 2point5 iphone mount believe me it looks like its an original part of my x5. the dice module is a small box, but believe me it works like charm, it sounds great, it works flawlessly with my iphone. as for the tools i highly recommend them, for the following reason: its not the first time i install something in a car, and when i installed things usually when i dissasemble there are high risks of breaking pieces and with the tools i was able for the first time to reasemble everything without breaking or scratching a thing in my car. another important thing you might ask about using an iphone with this kit , it works with hacked and non hacked iphones as well and all firmwares available.

Author: Ryan W I purchased the iPod Dice kit for my 2003 X5 with DSP. Having just the single Business CD player is not enough and I don have the CD changer. I actually installed the Stage 1, x108, XM, and the iPod kit at the same time, but it only took me about 5 min to plug in the Dice kit. I had some issues with the player at first because I didn think I needed the DSP adapter kit. In some X5s, if you have the 6 pin and 3 pin connector you may not need the DSP adapter. My X5 had both so I tried without the adaptor. No go! Once I put the adaptor on though everything was fine. If you like music, then this kit is a must! I don think I could live without now. Being able to go through my 8 gig Nano is awesome. Its hard to get used to sorting through the albums and artists at first but it gets easier. There are a few bugs here and there, but considering I can see the titles in the stock radio and still use my steering wheel controls, overall I am very happy with this product.
