The BSW Story - The Beginning
Ah, where do we begin? It’s
hard to say where BSW really started, as we’ve been passionate
about music since we were all very young. That being
said, let’s go back, way back, to the very beginning, and
see what we can uncover…
Jason Seaver's Story
One of our founders, Jason,
remembers listening to Pink Floyd on his Dad’s B&O towers,
and discovering for the first time just how beautiful music could
sound. Upon developing his own musical tastes, Jason decided he
would like to find out just how loud the speakers were able to play.
Well, after having to pay
for the speakers to be re-coned himself, at the age of 9, Jason
learned that sound quality was always more important than ridiculous
amounts of volume. To this day, Jason has never destroyed another
set of speakers.
Coby Cranman's Story
Another BSW founder, Coby,
who is also a professional music producer and audio engineer, started
getting serious about music around the time he was 10 years old,
when he began setting up multiple tape recorders and CD players
in the living room and orchestrating rudimentary recording techniques
to find out what a Civil War battle reenactment sounded like over
his father's George Winston "Winter" CD.
His obsession for sound,
music, and recording grew from there, and he found himself devising
more and more outlandish scenarios, such as 4 track recordings of
falling water on various pieces of found metal, or bizarre songs
with one track forwards, one track backwards, and so forth.
Micah Cranman's Story
Our third found, Micah, (much
like Jason) experienced at age 12 the incredible emotion changing
power of music for the first time while listening to Pink Floyd,
The Wall in his brother’s room. In many ways, it was an experience
that shattered his innocence; like never before, Micah was able
to experience a depth of anguish and joy expressed within the music
that was outside his rather simple, idyllic existence at the time.
From that moment forward, tied to nearly every experience was an
internal soundtrack, the presence of some beloved song in his head
as he moved through life.
Present Day
These days you’ll find Jason
obsessing over any number of nit-picky details as they relate to
BSW product designs. Every product that BSW designs finds its way
into Jason’s car for an extended audition, sometimes making
the cut, sometimes not. Having installed mobile electronics for
the past 14 years, Jason now spends his days fine-tuning BSW products
and wishing that he had more cars to fill with all of the new prototypes
that find their way into his hands.
In his spare time, Jason
races bicycles, has season tickets to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra,
and obsesses over finding the perfect home audio setup. If you have
any recommendations, drop him a line and save him from wasting another
Saturday auditioning speakers while his poor wife wonders where
her husband has been for the last eight hours.
While his current endeavors are slightly
less esoteric, Coby has not lost his sense
of exploration and adventure when it comes to music and sound, and
this excitement has led his production work across the boundaries
of many genres, from Bluegrass to Hip-Hop, from film scoring to
album production, and now, with BSW, to a new frontier where he
has been able to translate his passion for music into a new form
- physical equipment which brings the magic of incredible audio
to music-loving BMW owners, everyday, across the planet.
Like Jason in his car, Coby
can be found in his studio referencing our speakers using his Mackie
HR824 monitors.
Today, Micah remains in awe of the incredible
power of music, how alive and connected
to the present moment it makes him, especially in two environments
– live music and dancing. Though not a direct comparison,
Micah, an avid concert-goer, uses his experiences at countless live
shows as the standard to which he holds BSW products, seeking to
create BSW products that make the listener truly believe their favorite
artist is really there, playing just for them, because after all,
to Micah that’s the finest way to experience music that exists.

The BSW Sales & Logistics Team
When you call BSW, or chat
with us online, you’re talking to genuine music lovers and
BMW enthusiasts. Whether it’s reminiscing about vehicles past,
or talking about a live show that you took in over the weekend,
our people know music and most importantly, your BMW.
Halston Pitman
Halston has been with us since late 2006 and has been an integral
part of BSW growing into who we are today. Before joining BSW, he
graduated from Universal Technical Institute with a degree in Auto/Diesel
Technology. He has six years under his belt working with BMW/European
repair and performance, with a focus on dedicated track car building
and preparation.
Halston has a broad reaching
love of music, and knows more about BSW products and how they function
in your BMW than anyone.
When not at BSW, he loves
helping fellow BMW owners keep their cars running in tip-top shape
by offering help on most every BMW forum on the net. He is a longtime
and active BMWCCA member of the Peachtree Chapter in Atlanta, Georgia,
where you can find him at social gatherings as well as numerous
track days as he is on his way to becoming an HPDE instructor.
His current stable consists
of a 1999 Dinan M3 Coupe (Track Car) and a 1986 535i (Daily Driver).
He is also an accomplished photographer, and very easy to persuade
if you need any photos of your BMW.
Zack Sycks
Zach has been with BSWsince late 2008, and has quickly proven himself
a valuable asset to the BSW team. In this short amount of time he
has amassed a wealth of knowledge and is also finding himself a
part of our product development team, as his ear is very valuable
to our success. He is a self taught musician and a lifelong student
of music and technology.
He plays several instruments,
including the lap slide guitar, acoustic and electric guitars, banjo,
and most other fretted instruments as well as being formally trained
during his childhood years on the piano. He enjoys listening to
music and seeing it performed live and has a great appreciation
for quality sound.
When he's not working or
enjoying music, he spends time with his wife Colleen and their four
dogs, while also spending an unhealthy amount of time following
college and professional American football.
Lee Redfern
is a self-proclaimed music junkie. A percussionist by choice, drum
and bass hold a dear place in his soul but his range of musical
taste runs the gamut from bluegrass to electronica and back again.
As long as there is true musicianship evident, he'll give it a good
listen. Lee can be found listening (don't interrupt him) to Django
or Touabab Krewe on his vintage Dynaco A-25's paired with his garage
sale, prize find of a receiver, the famous Fisher 500. It was a
good day...
He's an avid cyclist and general outdoor
activities are the norm. Whether mtn biking the Mt. Pisgah area
in NC or hiking through the Smokies, Lee loves the outdoors.
Regarding the BMW marque, Lee has owned an
E30 and is desperatley seeking an E46 wagon that is just right.
Let him know if you find one for him...
